The Battle of White Mountain. The Bohemian revolt is destroyed in about two hours on a hill west of the city. Twenty-seven leaders are executed in the Old Town Square the following June; the crosses are set in the pavement. Bohemia is re-Catholicised and ruled from Vienna for three centuries.
