1941

Terezín becomes a ghetto. The garrison town north of Prague is turned into a ghetto and transit camp. Around 150,000 Jews pass through; 33,000 die there and most of the rest are deported onward to Auschwitz. Fewer than 250 of the roughly 15,000 children survive.
