30 September 1938

The Munich Agreement. Britain, France, Germany and Italy agree to hand the Sudetenland to Germany. Czechoslovakia is not present at the negotiation. In Czech it is remembered as the Munich Betrayal, and it shaped Czech attitudes to great-power guarantees for a century.
